PAST DESIGN PROJECT
COME TO LIFE

Wharparilla Residence

A replacement new home within a Farm Zone.

I was first contacted by Kevin and Tracey to help create a more comfortable open living space by renovating their existing country home. We worked through a few different options before they decided to build a new home behind the existing. I loved each of their designs and enjoyed working through the different processes until their new home emerged and it suited the site perfectly!

The liner weatherboard home sat close to the middle of the site, surrounded by farmland with plenty of windows to take in the views.

The living area, one large open space with the master bedroom down one end of the house and guest bedrooms down opposite end achieve a nice balance for the retired couple and any visitors.

The living area has a lovely feature front door welcoming any guests while also giving an amount of privacy. The outdoor area, enclosed from flies and mozzies overlooks the pool and is situated directly off the dining area with quick assess from the spacious kitchen and hidden pantry.

This tidy home has very little wasted space and allows plenty of natural light and ventilation. Natural timbers, and stone tiles go well with the warm colour pallet and the venetian timber blinds are striking.

To see this one finally complete was the highlight of my week. Such a nice home for a lovely couple.

Mildura Façade Update

When the house is becoming outdated for the street, why not style up.

Maree and Darren were fed up with the ugly in a high tourist area of Mildura. With many other flashy new homes built nearby it was time for a change.

We worked together with builder, engineers and owners budget to transform the old brown brick home into something a little more exciting.

The property was transformed by removing the old roof and building a sloping roof over the existing walls. With a few more elements added such as the fence, portico and outdoor area, it is now hard to imagine the old look.

The project used the unusual Barestone cladding for the portico wall and external wall extension. The portico and outdoor area ceilings where also lined with plywood which created a tie in affect with the colour of the bricks and timber fences.

Maree spent a lot of time on the materials and it has came out fantastic. The little book of samples and timber laying around their kitchen did the trick for decision making! It was a pleasure seeing this one come to life.

Tresco Renovation

This project grew and shrunk over the design phase. Located on a farm at Tresco, Kathy and Andrew wished for a better kitchen than the pokey cupboard like one that previously existed.

There was a few concept floor plans before one was settled on. Although, when it came time to build, with a little more thinking and input from a few builders. a larger living area and laundry was arranged last minute for submission. We worked closely with the building surveyors and builders to submit more documents as work progressed, but it was worth it. The gallery laundry and storage look fantastic.

The old weatherboard house was also reclad with colorbond custom orb and a new verandah added giving the home a fresh look.

With the new kitchen and living areas, Kathy and Andrew have admitted they don't use the rest of the house. Only to hide in while I snapped some photos of their lovely home.

Boga Renovation

A small country style house situated on the banks of Lake Boga.

One of my very first projects. David approached me to add a two bedrooms, one a master with a walk in robe and ensuite.

There was a few planning regulations in place, although we managed to attain permission from council to extend the dwelling towards the Murray Valley Highway.

A simple design working with the original, you wouldn't think it was a renovation.

The dwelling's external walls were treated to a new coat of paint and a nice duel roofed verandah was built to the front allowing plenty of light in.

This project was a special one for me. I also participated in the construction of this extension, learning by being a lacky a few times a week. Measuring, cutting, painting fetching tools, cleaning up and even fitted the front door hardware. Out on the tools provided me with more experience and understanding, influencing all my future design work.
